Compendium #1

January 23rd, 2024.

I woke up with eight trigger fingers once again, and with gratitude that my left and right ring finger have yet to give up on me—though they do hurt. Nowadays I sit here knowing my website lies in the dust despite its latent potential beyond the initial goal of my graphic novel work; ever since I developed these issues in December of 2022, all I’ve really done is paid a lot for my site and let it sleep.

So as of now, I would like to develop what some people may call a blog, or what I’d like to look at as a section of references. From day-to-day I do independent study on many things: grammar, editing, publishing, plot devices, genre, character development. And that doesn’t take into consideration the research I still do into my one passion, which is comicwork.

I’ve always wanted something easy to access to look over my life & work Cheat Sheets: ‘I know that I did a couple of modules on preposition, and some on why the passive voice is bad, but do you really think I can remember it without looking over my notes?’

I’ve tried Scrivener for that end, and while it is incredibly useful for things like conlanging dictionaries, it just isn’t satisfying to have to organize. But while my hands may still defy me, my website isn’t: it’s sitting here waiting to be used, and I guess I should get a hold of myself and start doing that now shouldn’t I?

Hopefully within the coming weeks, months and possibly even years, you will find an ever expanding compendium of studies and coursework related to my main body of passions and work. Hopefully too, it will create something to be proud of that I can look back at and know during my time of injury I made the best of it. Or maybe I’ll die before my hands improve and I’ll never go back to work. But at least I can die knowing that I tried.
